The town of Vigo di Fassa, (1393 m. A.M.S.L.) is the ideal holiday destination for the whole family, whether you are looking for an action-packed holiday with lots of sport, or one where peace and quiet prevail. It is located in a particularly sun-bathed prominent position, at the point where the valley reaches its maximum width. The town was once the capital of the province and an important political, cultural and religious centre in the valley, and today it is home to the Ladin cultural institute, the organisation that treasures, protects and promotes the most deeply-rooted aspects of Ladin culture. Right in the centre of the Fassa Valley, it serves as a panoramic viewpoint, that affords visitors a long view of both the higher regions (Canazei), and of the lower part of the valley (Moena), and the peaks of the various Dolomite ranges make a perfect natural frame for each village: the Rosengarten, the Monzoni, the Langkofel, the Plattkofel, the Sella Massif, the Vallaccia Group, with the magnificent Cima XII, and the renowned Marmolada, with its 3,343 m. height, (to which it owes its nick-name, the “Queen of the Dolomites.”)
We could go on forever about these fascinating places, but no description can ever be as effective as that gained through experiencing such beauty first-hand. We will prepare a warm welcome for you so that we can show you every single hidden corner, and feel what only this valley knows how to convey!
